More New Ukrainian Ukrainian Orthodox Saints Dr. Alexander Roman (email) In April of this year, the Synod of the UOC under the leadership of Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and Ukraine glorified the following Saints for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church: The Venerable New Martyr St Olimpiada (Verbetska) of the Kozelschansky Monastery of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos who suffered martyrdom under communism on June 2, 1938 (also her Feast day); The Righteous Priest Saint Theodosius Levitsky of Odessa who reposed on March 22, 1954 (also his Feast day); The Holy Hierarch Saint Gurias Bishop of Tauria in the Eparchy of Simferopil, Feast day: March 30th. The Holy New Hieromartyrs of the St Mykolayiv Eparchy, St Sergius Shtenko, Priest and the laymen Sts. Prochor Bunchuk and Cyril Preymak, Feast day: April 26th; The Venerable Archimandrite Barsonophy (Yurchenko) of the Cherson Eparchy, Feast day: October 17th; The Venerable Foundress of the Monastry of the Entrance into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos, Dmitra Yehorova, Feast day: March 22nd; A recommendation was drawn up to extend to universal veneration that of St Paul (Koniuskevich) Metropolitan of Tobilsk in Siberia and St Philotheus (Amphiteatriv) Metropolitan of Kyiv (both of which received their monastic tonsure in the Kyivan Caves Lavra).
