Божа Мати «Спорителька хлібів»

«(Вона) Помічниця для людей у їхніх трудах здобувати хліб насущний».

На 28-го жовтня (відповідає 15-му жовтня за юліанським календарем) ми святкуємо пам’ять Ікони Божої Матері «Спорительки хлібів». Цю Ікону написали в другій половині 19-го століття з благословення Старця Амвросія зі славної Оптики Пустинь, що знаходиться біля міста Ковельська, яке колись належало до Чернігівського князівства, а зараз є частиною Калузької Опласті Розбійської Федерації.

Св. Амвросій (його ім’я в мирі – Олександр Михайлович Ґренков) (1812-1891) – один з визначних оптинських Старців, які очолили поважне духовне оновлення по всій Російській імперії в 19-му столітті. Вони були натхненні Преподобним Паїсієм Величковським (1722-1794), уродженцем Полтави, який відновив монашество на землях Русі та Молдови, а з ним і посвяту до Ісусової Молитви: «Господи Ісусе Христе, Сину Божий, помилуй мене грішного».

Преподобний Амвросій глибоко шанував Божу Матір. Цією ж Іконою він поблагословив Шамординський жіночий монастир, якого заснував близько Оптини Пустині. Він сам заповів відзначення Празника Ікони на 15-го жовтня (28-го за григоріанським календарем) і коли він упокоївся в Бозі, його похорон відбувся на той же день.

На Іконі Божа Мати сидить на хмарах з руками піднесеними в благословенні. Під нею поле, на якому снопи жита то лежать то стоять. Св. Амвросій говорив про цю Ікону, що вона пригадує, що Божа Мати – «Помічниця для людей у їхніх трудах здобувати хліб насущний». Цікаво що недавно оголошували примірник цієї Ікони на «і-бей» з добавкою «Допоможи підприємству».

Земля на якій об’явилася Ікона побачила великий гніт. Оптину Пустинь закрили комуністи і останніх монахів замучили в р. 1937. А в р. 1939 коли Сталін зробив угоду з Гітлером, чим приспішив Другу світову війну, у її приміщеннях ув’язнили польських офіцерів. Між квітним а травнем 1940 НКВД перевезло тисячі їх до лісу в Катині в Смоленські області і там їх повбивали у місці, де потім знайшли й інші масові поховання жертв Світського режиму.

Св. Амвросій який виснажувався допомагаючи й дораджуючи тисячам народу, які до нього приходили радив: «Не турбуйтеся надто тим, як складається ваша доля. Тільки майте непохитне бажання спасіння і, стоячи перед Богом, очікуйте Його помочі доки прийде на це відповідний час». Прийшов час на те, щоб виявити жорстокі та насильницькі дії послідовників обманної ідеології комуністів.

Хліб, якого видала земля – перш за все життя мучеників, жертв тих, що шукають здобувати владу без відповідальності за нею. Земля постійно видає такий хліб до нині. Про них не забуває Бог! Гряде день, коли стане ясним, що такі жертви не даремні. Жнива, як наступлять будуть жнива любові та милосердя. Молімось словами Акафісту, якого уклав Преподобний Амвросій для вшанування Ікони: «Радуйся Благодатна, Господь з Тобою! Подай нам, недостойним, росу Твоєї ласки і вияв Твого Милосердя!» Амінь.

The Mother of God “Multiplier of Bread”

"(She) is a Helper for people in their labours for the acquiring of their daily bread."

On October 28 (which is October 15 on the Julian Calendar) we celebrate the Icon of the Mother of God “Mulitiplier of Bread”. This Icon was written in the late 19th century at the blessing of the Starets’ Ambrose of the renowned Optina Hermitage near the town of Kozels’k, formerly part of the Chernihiv Principality, in the Kaluga Oblast’ of the Russian Federation.

St. Ambrose (lay name – Aleksandr Mikhailovich Grenkov) (1812-1891), was one of the renowned Optina Startsi, who led a profound spiritual renewal throughout the Russian Empire in the 19th century. They were inspired by St. Paisius Velychkovsky (1722-1794), native of Poltava, who revived monasticisim in the lands of Rus’ and Moldavia along with the devotion to the Jesus Prayer: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner”.

St. Ambrose had a profound devotion to the Mother of God. With this Icon he blessed the Shamordino women’s monastery which he founded near the Optina Hermitage. He himself decreed that the celebration of the Icon’s Feastday would be October 15 (October 28 on the Gregorian Calendar) and when he reposed in the Lord, his funeral was held on that day.

On the Icon the Mother of God is sitting on the clouds, her hands upraised in blessing. Below her is a grain field with sheaves of rye standing and lying about. St. Ambrose said of the Icon that the Mother of God “is a Helper for people in their labours for the acquiring of their daily bread”. It is interesting that a copy of the Icon was recently advertised on ebay with the subtitle “Help Business”.

The land upon which the Icon was revealed has seen great oppression. The Hermitage was closed by the Communists and the last monks were martyred in 1937. In 1939 after Stalin had made a pact with Hitler which led to the Second World War, Polish officers were imprisoned in the monastery. Between April and May of 1940 the NKVD transferred thousands of them to a forest in Katyn where they were massacred at a spot where many other mass graves of victims of the Soviet regime were found.

St. Ambrose, who dedicated himself tirelessly to helping and counselling the thousands of people that came to see him, said: "Do not be greatly disturbed by the arrangement of your fate. Have only the unwavering desire for salvation and, standing before God, await His help until the time comes." The time came for revealing the cruel and rapacious deeds of followers of the delusional ideology of the Communists.

The bread which the land brought forth was above all the lives of the martyrs, the victims of those who seek power without responsibility. The earth continually brings forth such bread to this very day. They are not forgotten by God. The day is approaching when it will be clear that such sacrifices are not in vain. The harvest which will come will be one of love and mercy. Let us pray in the words of the Akathist which St. Ambrose composed for the veneration of this Icon: "Hail, Full of Grace, the Lord is with You! Grant unto us unworthy ones the dew of Your grace and the showing forth of Your mercy!" Amen.
