Christ is Born! - Христос Рождається!

Question:

Why is it that, in Ukrainian, many people greet each other during the season of the Nativity (Christmas) with the words "Khrystos rozhdayet'sya" (literally "Christ is being born") while others say "Khrystos narodyvsya" (literally "Christ was born")?

Чому кажемо переважно «Христос Рождається» а дехто «Христос народився»?

The Incarnation of the Son of God as True Man, while never ceasing to be True God of True God, that is the transformation of the cosmos into the manifest Kingdom of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, is an endless process. Christ is continually being born in the hearts of the faithful and in their good words and deeds. This would not be had he not truly been born over 2000 years ago in a cave-stable in Bethlehem. Truly, Christ was born! But this greeting conveys only the essential historical side of the Event. The spiritual, theological, cosmic, eternally new reality of it is best conveyed by the greeting: "Khrystos rozhdayet'sya" (or, if you wish, the more contemporary version "narodzhuyet'sya"). Let us glorify Him!

Боговтілення, тобто перетворення вселенної на явне Царство Отця і Сина і Святого Духа, - подія нескінчена. Христос постійно народжується в серцях вірних і в їхніх добрих словах та ділах. Цього б не було якщо б Він дійсно більше чим 2000 літ тому в вертепі в Вифлеємі не народився. Так, Христос народився! Але цими словами передаємо лише конечну історичну сторону події. Але духовну, богословську,космічну, вічну нову істину висловлюємо словами «Христос Рождається» (або в сучасній мові «Народжується»). Славімо Його!
